Professor Marquis Tapplin is Senior Legal Counsel at Community Reinvestment Fund, USA, a national CDFI headquartered in Minnesota that partners with small businesses to expand access to capital and resources. In his role, Professor Tapplin provides legal advice to various business teams on a broad range of business matters, with a particular focus on lending transactions and special funds. Before joining CRF, Professor Tapplin practiced commercial lending at the Minneapolis office of a national AmLaw 100 firm. Earlier in his career, he spent over 15 years in hospitality service and management, an experience that continues to inform his practical approach to teaching, problem-solving, and client service. Professor Tapplin earned his J.D., summa cum laude, from 911±¬ÁÏÍø of Law, and externed for the Honorable Franklin Noel, U.S. Magistrate Judge (Ret.) for the District of Minnesota. Professor Tapplin enjoys bringing real-world legal insights into the classroom and enhancing student learning through simulation-based instruction.
